- 4. Why do you feel headlines are so important in web content? Please provide me with another headline you clicked on recently (submit headline, including screenshot) and outline in detail why you clicked it. It cannot be the same answer as in question #2. (8 Marks)
Headlines in general are vital when you want to attract quantitative traffic to your posts. The rate at which people will be enticed to click on your articles depends on how strong of a headline you create and whether or not it has the potential to have an impact on the reader enough to make them curious to click and find out if there’s logic behind the headline they just read. A good headline should right away consist of a short and unique rationale of the overall purpose behind your article. That way your audience is provided with a snippet of content that allows them to make a connection with stating what’s to be expected as well as specific numbers to offer a brief indication of the amount of “minutes” it will take to read it, or so they perceive. For web content, it is important to keep in mind how your headline’s sole purpose is to generate a click-through rate and anything to state the obvious in plain language that is digestible for the average person. This means there is a concise message that doesn’t riddle or remain as an inside joke concerning the article. Unhinged headlines are encouraged, but only if they make sense and relate to the subject.

Headline: “17 Celebrities Who Legitimately Have No Idea How To Clap Their Hands”
“Clapping isn’t easy for everyone.”
I was browsing through Buzzfeed and I came across this article and instantly was curious just at how surprising it was to hear that some people don’t know how to clap when I was originally under the impression that out of all things, clapping was easy for everyone. I initially clicked on it and assumed it was going to be a waste of my time, and while it still was, it was also interesting to see how the headline well represented the content of the article.
These are two visual representations of mostly what the article consisted of. Some are GIFs, and some are videos, but overall, it simply gives a rundown of the various celebrities who legitimately don’t know how to clap properly. The headline was well done considering how it stated the obvious without any confusing, hidden meanings or complicated keywords to convey their intentions of what they want to show you clearly with an effortless and straightforward way of using power words that give off an interesting but deep down concerning feeling on behalf of the celebrities. Along with the application of specificity by mentioning a number of celebrities, for those who are looking for more detailed information. That was the same reason behind why decided to click on it.
